The 27-30 month review is completed at around 27-30 months of age and is usually carried out by a member of staff within the health visiting team (e.g. health visitor, community staff nurse, or nursery nurse).
Parents/carers actively participate in their child’s review through the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ-3). This helps parents/carers and professionals work together to review five areas of child development: communication and language; gross motor skills; fine motor skills; problem solving; and personal-social development. The ASQ-3 acts as a starting point for discussion on these key areas of development.
Following completion of the ASQ-3, both the parents/carers and the professional have the opportunity to discuss any concerns about the child’s development across any of the five key areas at this stage.
More detailed information relating to communication and language development at 27-30 months is included in this section.
